Ash Utilization is one of the key concerns at BCCL. The Ash Utilization section strives to derive maximum usage from the ash produced from its coal-based captive power plant. The division proactively formulates policy, plans and programme for ash utilization. It further monitors the progress in these areas and works at developing new fields of ash utilization.

At Present the company is promoting the use of fly ash in making of bricks, roads & development of land.

The quality of ash produced conforms to the requirements of IS 3812. The fly ash generated is ideal for use in cement, concrete, concrete products, cellular concrete, lightweight aggregates, bricks/blocks/tiles etc. This is attributed to its very low loss value on ignition.
