ABOUT
World Class Manufacturing (WCM) is a unique strategy for Enterprise Excellence.
It is an eight dimensional program enshrining the philosophies TPM, TQM, BPR,
ERP, ISO 9001 and other change initiatives. WCM enables the units to achieve Zero
defects, Zero losses, Zero breakdown, Zero accidents, Zero Pollution and Zero
customer Complaints through Zero Abnormalities movement. WCM is in itself, a competitive
strategy that aims for stakeholders, including customers and employees delight through
focus on sustainable and superior QCDIP (Quality, Cost, Delivery, Innovation, Productivity
and Pride) performances in its process. It helps in achieving sustainable, superior
performance by focusing "Art of Manufacturing for Consistent Excellence". It is
diagnostic in nature as it enables the abnormalities to show themselves.
WCM program aims at improving Nation's Competitiveness and Business Excellence through
Breakthrough and Bench marking, supported by a Team based Management System. Road
map to achieve highest standard of Total Quality and organizational pride.,WCM is
an accepted way of managing business processes by the units of ABG.
Bihar Caustic as a whole strives on many business tools in its own flavors to solidify
itself as a World Class Manufacturer. The unit is also following the IMC model for
quality Excellence and the guidelines of Indian Chemical Association of India to
meet the requirements of responsible care committed company. Integrated Management
system to meet the standards of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, SA 8000, OHSAS 18001 and continual
improvement , is also followed. To maintain speed and lean manufacturing process
unit has implemented SAP in Y2005.
Unit believes that by complete involvement of employees the excellence can be achieved
and sustained for a long time.
TOTAL PRODUCTIVE MAINTENANCE (TPM)
Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) is an organizational development to successfully
improve plant maintenance by providing significant tangible results, and transformation
of the plant's environment and people. The goals of TPM simply conclude to Zero
Breakdown, Zero Accident, and Zero Defect.
SIX SIGMA
The goal of Six Sigma is to increase profits by eliminating variability, defects
and waste that undermine customer loyalty. Six Sigma is a rigorous and a systematic
methodology that utilizes information (management by facts) and statistical analysis
to measure and improve a company's operational performance, practices and systems
by identifying and preventing 'defects' in manufacturing and service-related processes
in order to anticipate and exceed expectations of all stakeholders to accomplish
effectiveness.
KAIZEN SUGGESTION SYSTEM
The involvement of each individual within an organization, whether it is an industrial
environment at Bihar Caustic, or any organization, it is a rule of thumb to respect
each individual and build a collective knowledge base from the experience of each
individual. The objectives of Kaizen Suggestion System (KSS), an offspring of the
TPM and WCM initiatives, are to motivate employees to have more participation according
to participative management, to development employees' innovations continuously,
to communicate information from employees to management, to increase worker pride
when participated for developing organization, and to improve working system and
working area in better condition. The benefits that Bihar Caustic has experienced
in the years of organizational development through the introduction of KSS for corporate
communications include, not limited to, improved worker pride and employee morale,
improved working environment and conditions, work efficiency, higher quality of
work, overall cost reductions, and safety at the workplace.
5S IMPROVEMENT PRINCIPLES
A disciplined improvement, today a way of life at Bihar Caustic. Based and developed
in Japan, 5S is a process of work place organization and house-keeping which is
carried out gradually and systematically.
5S Improvement Principles include:
- Seiri or Sort Out: Remove what is not needed and keep
what is needed.
- Seiton or Make Convenient: Place things in such a way
that they can be easily reached when they are needed.
- Seiso or Cleanliness: Keep things clean and polished;
no trash or dirt in the workplace.
- Seiketsu or Standardization: Maintain cleanliness after
cleaning - perpetual cleaning.
- Shitsuke or Discipline: Commitment, a typical teaching
and attitude toward any undertaking to inspire pride and adherence to standards
established for the four components.
SAFE & HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT
Responsibility is another commitment Bihar Caustic endeavors to ensure. Its WCM
directives already focus on building caring individuals, enhancing the organization
as a whole. Among these are concentrations on environmental consciousness. Inline
with our corporate values to participate in exercising environmental protection,
The Company emphasizes its industrial environment to extend its duty to the nation
and the world through the appropriate management of environmental issues. The Company
is ISO14001, ISO9001, SA 8000 and OHSAS 18001 certified to internationally
comply with recognized standards.
